Just for the blog of it

In case you have missed us, we haven't gone anywhere. As all good things go, sometimes the routine gets into a funk and we get off track. That is what has happened with our blog (and most of our TV show viewing as well). Too many kid activities, more time spent at the office for my new job then working from home, work related travel, etc.

Regardless, enjoy below a few blog entries from the last several weeks to get you all caught up in the happenings of the Butler Family. And if you are desperate for more real-time updates, check out our facebook status'. We definitely do a better job of keeping that up to date.

To start it off, here are some action shots from today's photo session in the backyard with our falling leaves. Yes, our crazy trees are still alive. Their leaves turn brown in the fall like every other tree, but they don't actually fall off the trees until the new leaves start coming in during the spring. The kids certainly enjoyed a spring afternoon jumping in a pile of leaves.

Dance Season

Abby's dance studio dances year round, but their competition season started this past weekend. We drove to Cedar Hill to watch her 2 dances compete. She is in 1 jazz dance and 1 tap dance this year. It was a relatively small and short competition compared to some of the others from years past, but we were still gone a good 7 hours. Abby loves the competitions though, and Emma also had fun watching.

When we got home, Emma decided to put on her own dress-up clothes and have her very own dance competition. Our dog, Bailey, enjoyed being her audience.

Basketball Season

Abby's basketball season has come to an end. She learned so much about the game of basketball in a short amount of time. She absolutely loved it. There were 5 teams of 2nd grade girls, and her team was the only team that had never played before; all the other teams were returning. The final game of the season, they were playing for 2nd place, but they lost to a great team and ended up finishing 3rd overall. Not bad for a team of girls who had never played!

Below are some pictures from another game earlier in the season.

We celebrated at Spring Creek Barbeque and the girls each got a trophy and a rose. Abby is already ready for next season to start!

A cold beginning to the season

Emma started off her soccer season with 2 very cold games. The first one, pictured above, was easily in the 30s with a bit of a wind and part of the field was in the shade... really making it cold. If you look at the picture of Abigail and Jennifer, you can see how cold it was. Regardless, Emma put on a show not being bothered by the wind or temperature at all. She scored 3 goals in the second half and earned a bag of cotton candy for her effort.

The second game had the same wind, but was about 10 degrees warmer (and around lunch time). Emma put forth the same effort in this game sporting 1 goal. She would've had a couple more goals if she didn't have to stop to pick up her big Dora earmuffs that she was wearing. We are very proud of her getting a good start to the spring season.
