The Love Song

Our girls really come up with some interesting ideas... and the latest comes from Emma. Between a recently checked out DVD from the Flower Mound Library (Blue's Big Music Show) and going to see Hannah Montana the Movie this weekend, she has decided she is going to 'write a song'. As you see from the picture, she is spending time trying to create the music with her Hannah Montana guitar and then writing notes down as they come to her.

As in the movie, she tells us the song is not done yet but it is called the Love Song and its about Loving Friends. I've also heard her say that she hopes to sing it to Luke someday and then he will love her. Such young love.

Can't we just go back to playing Lego Star Wars on the Wii?

Happy Easter

Despite the rain and thunderstorms, we had a great Easter. The girls were up at 6 a.m. due to the loud thunder, so we had no trouble leaving here at 7:15 for our 8 a.m. service. Brian greeted and ushered, and the girls had their Sunday morning donuts in the church cafe.


After church, we headed home and did our Easter Egg Hunt inside the house due to the weather. Then, we headed off to my sister's house for Easter lunch and to spend time with family. Since the rain had stopped for the most part, we were able to have another egg hunt outside. We had a great day remembering the death and resurrection of our Savior.

Springtime in Texas

As most of you have already seen on our facebook pages, we made it out last week to take some annual Texas Tradition bluebonnet pictures. This year we went back to a place that we have been to a couple of times in Grapevine. For those from the area, it's between Main Street and the Ford/Toyota dealerships and has a number of open fields filled with bluebonnets.

While we were out there, we had setup for our yearly attempt at a family picture with the tripod, a lady came over with her camera asking if she could help out. She was out there photographing the bluebonnets for herself and we accepted her invitation. As we both had Canon DSLR cameras, she recommended that I give her my compact flash card and she would take a few pictures with her camera for us. And did she ever. She snapped off about 25 pictures in about 3 minutes... moving us around in a couple of different poses. In the end, we got a couple of really nice pictures and were very grateful for her assistance. We aren't certain she was a professional photographer, but she certainly appeared to be. Unfortunately, the blaring sun was in our eyes...which made for very squinty, watery eyes throughout the photo shoot. But, at least we got our annual bluebonnet pictures in.

The girls enjoyed running around in the bluebonnets, but were careful not step on and hurt the wonderful state flower of Texas.

Easter Egg Coloring

Today the girls did some Easter egg decorating. Make sure to note the details... Emma has a Star Wars kit and Abigail has a Hannah Montana kit.

Tea Time

Just a cute picture of imagination. Make sure to note that the dolls are using good manners and raising their hands to get more tea. Also, this was a blog-worthy picture as it was a rare time that a 'Star Wars Guy' wasn't involved in an activity...

Egg Hunts

Our church small group held our annual egg hunt at a local park. The kids had fun hunting eggs, playing on the playground, and participating in the sack race. What a great group we have!


This weekend, our town had several egg hunts. Abby and I had to be at a dance competition at 7:30 a.m. in Arlington...which meant getting up at 5:30 on a Saturday morning. No fun! But, we were home by 2:00 and made it to the egg hunt by 2:10. Brian and Emma skipped out on the dance competition because Emma had a 1:00 soccer game. Emma managed to score 3 goals, get a sunburn, and met us at the egg hunt at 2:10. The egg hunt was from 2:00-4:00 sponsored by a local church. They had several egg hunts during that 2 hour time period divided up by age group. We ran into friends, got to bounce in the bounce houses, eat popcorn, stand in a very long line to ride a pony, ride a pony, and then we headed home. As you can see, Emma was particular about which eggs she chose during the hunt...all pink, my friends. She is our little pinkalicious, Star Wars lovin' girl!

Feeding the Ducks

One of Emma's requests for her birthday was to go to a local park and feed the ducks. We don't get to venture there nearly as often as we'd like. I tried to fit it in on her birthday, but we ran out of time. So, we went a few days later. What a perfect day it was!

The girls had fun feeding them stale bread and stale cinnamon rolls. The ducks didn't seem to mind the old food a bit!

Ear Piercing

Several months ago, Abby and I discussed getting her ears pierced. She told me she wanted no part of it because it would hurt. I was fine with waiting until she was in the double digits. However, for her dance competitions, everyone has earrings they wear. We have the earrings, but with non-pierced ears, they have been useless and sit in the drawer. So, for every dance competition, I have to glue crystal stones to her earlobes. Not a big deal, but one more step in the whole process. So, because of this, she decided she was ready to get them pierced.


She did great and said it just hurt for a minute or so afterwards. I was proud of her!


The girls also got their summer hair cuts because I have been tired of trying to brush their hair out after being outside in this crazy wind we've had. I think we can be renamed the "Windy City."

Emma's Birthday

Emma turned 5 years old! Where has the time gone? Luckily, her birthday falls during Spring Break, so we were able to have a fun-filled day. We had pink pancakes for breakfast, made a quick trip to the gym, (she LOVES it there), picked up Chick-fil-A for lunch, then an afternoon at Boomerangs, Sweet and Sassy, and Peter Piper Pizza for dinner.


Emma's great grandmother, Nana, was able to come in town that weekend as well. She made Emma's birthday by getting her an American Girl Doll "that she's always wanted!" We celebrated her birthday with friends and family by having a bounce house birthday party and our family over to our house for dinner afterwards.
